Goto Ventures is an emerging smart renewable energy and optimisation systems consultancy based in Manchester and Glasgow, UK. We are looking for an Electrical Engineer - Renewable technologies to join our team of consultants to take the business forward by providing Net Zero consulting services. As the world moves towards net-zero emissions, the way we use electricity is changing. More than ever, we need experts who can ensure the lights stay on while we transition to greener energy sources. 

About the Role:

As an Electrical Engineer, you will support Goto Ventures in providing services to its clients in implementing renewable technologies & deployment of monitoring software. You will plan,  coordinate and organise the installation of hardware and software for  Solar panels, battery storage, smart EV/V2G  chargers and heat-pumps. This Role matters as the shift to net-zero means energy use is evolving, and understanding customer needs and demand patterns is crucial to keeping things running smoothly.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Up to 10 years’ experience in power systems, with 3-5 years in net-zero grids
  • Strong understanding of grid management and power distribution
  • Ability to work with energy providers and industry partners
  • Eligible for sponsorship (EU candidates welcome)

Education:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (or a related field) is essential.
  • A Master’s degree or higher is a plus.

Experience:

  • Hands-on experience in power system engineering, with a strong focus on system design, analysis, and protection.
  • Experience leading and managing engineering teams on large-scale projects.
  • Familiarity with power system modelling software, such as ETAP, PSS/E, DigSILENT PowerFactory, CYME, or similar tools.

Responsibilities: 

  • Work with customers to develop smart energy solutions, work alongside the sales and operational teams to come up with bespoke solution designs that will help solve problems for customers.
  • You’ll analyse data, predict load increases, and help manage the client's energy infrastructure to prevent issues before they arise.
  • You will conduct site inspections and in some cases site surveys
  • Liaise with clients to establish and develop project briefs, project objectives, constraints and requirements, to aid in the development of engineering options. 
  • Creation of solution designs and proposals whilst working closely with the sales teams when scoping out solutions and estimates for new projects
  • Oversee the development of conceptual designs, design / performance specifications and outline scopes of work, to enable commissioning of detailed design (through external consultancy), design & build contract specifications and specialist consultancy support
  • To present engineering proposals and business cases. It is expected that these activities will be supported by other members of the engineering team 
  • Undertake the preparation of electrical energy models, using a range of standard industry software tools like PVsol.
  • Provide post implementation support and changes where required by customers.
  • Coordinate work with external design consultants, contractors and specialists, supervise installation of 3rd party teams
  • Assist in establishing and preparing statutory applications, such as planning, building control, electrical connections upgrades / G99 connections and others
